Our Cast:
I am very pleased with not only my role, but those I have been cast with. I was hoping to be put in the same cast as Charlotte because we work well together and are comfortable with each other. Key scenes with other characters:
Megan, Jennah and myself- At the start of the show when they are buying condoms, there is banter between the three of us. This works because we all know each other and have this kind of banter on a daily basis (admittedly not about Condoms).
Songs and dialogue:
One of the main reasons I wanted this part was because of her singing part. My approach will be to re-watch the YouTube full version, make a note of all the songs she sings in and learn them so that I am ready to start working on technique/performance once I have the notes down and learnt. Similarly with dialogue, when prepping for the audition I wasn't sure of the tone of some phrases, I then went to watch that scene and see the emotion trying to be portrayed at the time.
How to be successful within this role:
Other than the key aspects of line learning and singing in the correct pitch etc, I think that working at the characterisation is going to be a key part for me, often I play comedy roles so it will be different working on a more serious role with the odd joke, rather than the other way around. To practice this, I believe that using a mirror and practicing with Charlotte will be the most beneficial way to ace this, because I will get my own feedback from the mirror exercise but also charlottes feedback.
During this session:
We did some scales and 2 octaves scales to warm up our voices, 12321 to get our diction and mouths moving, and then a counter melody exercise whereby one group sang Pink, and the other James Blunt. This worked well because it prepared us for the first song we learnt, 'Our house', combined with 'House of Fun' meaning we used the same skills of focusing purely on our own part, and projecting our voices so that both parts are equally heard. I didn't struggle with this because I have sung in choirs previously, and so am used ot having to hold your own part. I'm so exited to learn the rest of the songs with all the harmonies as a group! It's going to be great *cheesy smile*.
