SO SING - The Rehearsal Process

What Have I Contributed to the performance process?
Energy and Insight - As well as showing energy in each vocal aspect of the rehearsal process (through proper use of diction, posture, breathing and projection) I have also shown 'song specific' energy and insight to influence the theme and emotion conveyed in each segment of of the medley depending on what song I am singing. For example, in 'Only Human' the nature of the lyrics and melody convey anger, and a strong attitude. Having learned this, our movement and voice was thus affected, we sung strongly and in a firm, assertive way, and all moved in formation tapping our feet.

Commitment - my commitment to the process has not only been shown through the energy I have given, but also through me learning the lyrics before any rehearsals began, my presence in each rehearsal, and willingness to get involved. Another way in which I have demonstrated this is by learning the guitar chords so that I can practice independently. I also practiced with the backing tracks, affirming my knowledge of the melody.

Confidence - Whilst I showed confidence in the performance of the medley, it is something that I definitely had to work on during the rehearsal process, especially at the beginning. For example, not knowing all the songs very well meant I was singing quietly, not wanting to be heard to be making mistakes. However as the process went on my confidence grew greatly, to the extent that I was able to offer help with pitching the right key of where the song starts with the chord pattern, and quieting the timing of 'he' in the line 'he walks away' in the Amy Winehouse track, as she varies the way in which she sings it in the recording.
